KONATE the man SOLSKJAER wants
RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate has been placed at the top of Manchester United’s transfer list this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for a new defender to take his side to the next level and help them climb to the title.
They were excited by their Leipzig teammate Dayot Upamecano. However, it seems that he is destined for Bayern Munich as they prepare for a double exit.
And like Upamecano, Konate has a release clause that comes into effect this summer. However, the price needed to get the 21-year-old out of Leipzig is only 30 million euros (26,5 million pounds sterling).
This tax, naturally, attracted United’s attention, according to The Independent. The newspaper, however, the United States is not alone in its pursuit of Konate. Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal would also be interested.
Bild’s Christian Falk says Leipzig expects Konate to leave.
“Of course, it’s in great demand,” Falk said.
But he also has an exit clause of around €30m (£26.5 million) more that can be made possible this summer.
“Leipzig must be prepared for an exciting summer transfer window if they want to avoid losing two central in the end.”
However, there is a growing belief in United that they can win the race by signing. In addition, it can demonstrate – pound for pound-a more cunning investment than Upamecano.
At only 21 years old, Konate seems a very good prospect. With 11 selections in the France Under-21 team to his credit, it will surely not be long before he is part of the full squad of the Blues.
